Steven Napoli - PGA Director of Golf

Steve Napoli, the Director of Golf at Carnegie Abbey, oversees the entire golf operation. His responsibilities include management and hiring of the golf staff including Head Professional Dave Sarrasin, Senior Assistant Professional Peter O'Neill, Assistant Professional Nate Bobola, and Caddy Master Michael O'Donnell. Steve and his staff prepare the annual Golf Calendar with the Carnegie Abbey Committee. He is responsible for coordinating all play on the golf course, outside golf operations, the use of the practice areas, lesson programs, and the purchase of golf equipment, clothing, and accessories in the golf shop. view full bio »

Steve also works closely with Dean Chase, Director of Greens and Grounds, on golf course conditions, grooming, and setup. He also oversees Wayne Turner and the tennis operation along with the youth camps.

A 1977 graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Steve has been a member of the PGA of America Since 1979. Prior to assuming the Director of Golf position at Carngie Abbey, Steve was the Director of Golf at Wannamoisett Country Club in Rumford, Rhode Island from 1993 until 2007. Previously, he served as the Head Professional at Pawtucket Country Club for nine years. Steve has received many awards throughout his career including being named the 1992 New England PGA Professional of Year and winning the same award on two occasions in Rhode Island. In 1998 Steve won the New England Bill Strausbaugh Award and received a higher honor as the National PGA of America Bill Strausbaugh Award winner in 2003. Steve was named the top teacher in Rhode Island in 2007 by Golf Digest Magazine and has been recognized as a Top One Hundred Junior Golf Instructors by US Kids Golf.

Steve has a long record of involvement in the golf community including stints as President of the Rhode Island PGA and New England PGA. He is a founding and current member of the Board of Directors of the Golf Foundation of Rhode Island, which oversees Buttonhole, a short course and learning center for inner city children in Providence. A former caddie and recipient of the John P. Burke Memorial Scholarship Fund, he currently is in his fourth year as president of the Fund, which has awarded over one thousand scholarships to deserving students from Rhode Island Golf Association facilities. Steve is in his fourth year as a member of the Board of Control of the PGA of America and was recently named chairman of the 100th Anniversary Committee of the PGA of America.

Playing accomplishments include winning the 1988 Rhode Island PGA Championship, the 1999 New England PGA Senior Junior Championship, and being named to play on the New England PGA Bermuda Cup team for seven years. Steve also has held two course records and has made six career hole-in-ones.

Steve and his wife Mary Ann reside in Barrington, Rhode Island with their two children, Stephen Jr. and Sarah.

David Sarrasin - PGA Head Professional

Dave comes to Carnegie with thirteen years experience as a Class A PGA Professional, and ten years as a Head Golf Professional. For the past ten years Dave has worked at The Club at Admiral's Cove and The Turtle Creek Club in South Florida. Before moving to Florida in 1988, Dave was the First Assistant at Warwick Country Club for 6 seasons. Dave's has also worked at Point Judith Country Club, Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit, New Jersey, The Apawamis Club in Rye, New York, and Jonathan's Landing Club in Jupiter, FL. Dave and his wife, Vy, son, Kyle, and two daugthers, Abygail and Maliya, are glad to be back in Rhode Island. And Dave is happy to be part of the Carnegie Abbey team.

Peter O'Neill - Senior Assistant Professional

Hometown: Seekonk, MA

Peter is entering his fifth season at Carnegie Abbey as an assistant golf professional. He attended Methodist College in Fayetteville, North Carolina where he was enrolled in the Professional Golf Management program. Peter earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Prior to Carnegie Abbey, Peter worked for the Rhode Island Golf Association as a United States Golf Association PJ Boatwright Intern, a prestigious position that is only awarded to a limited number of men and women throughout the United States.

Nathan Bobola - Assistant Professional

Born: Fairhaven, MA

Nathan is returning to Carnegie Abbey for his second season, having been promoted from outside operations to the golf shop staff. He spent this past winter at Admirals Cove in Jupiter, Florida. Nathan is a recent graduate of The Golf Academy of America in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Earning an Associates Degree in Business Management, with emphasis on Golf Operations. He also recieved accreditations for teaching, tournament operations, and golf club repair. Nathan currently resides in his hometown of Mattapoisett, MA where he enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Nathan is a hard working individual who is excited to be a part of the Carnegie Abbey family as he starts his career as an aspiring PGA Professional.
